Courses & prices |
Language school
Valencia is called the Land of Flowers , Lights and Love in a folksong. Flowers: Valencia has many parks, such as the romantic parks from the 18th Century with their lovely roses. In the botanical garden you will find many different sort of exotic plants. Moreover, the city is surrounded by a green belt of fertile land, which is called La Huerta (the Vegetable Garden). Lots of oranges are grown here. Almost all Spanish oranges are from Valencia. Lights: Valencia lies on the Mediterranean and is warm and sunny all year round. The beaches in the heart of the city are very inviting and the sky is so blue that you sometimes think it’s a reflection of the Sea. During the mild winter you can enjoy long walks along the beach. The cultural scene is huge in Valencia: the early gothic cathedral with its museum, and the Goya collection are very appealing. At the Plaza del Mercado you will find the most famous building in Valencia – La Lonja, which is the old stock market building from 1483.

Lots of festivals take place in Valencia. The most famous is the Fallas, which takes place in March. During this celebration of the beginning of spring beautiful figures are created to represent a satirical view of Spanish politics and society. On the last day of the festival, the 19th of March, the figures are burned to symbolize the end of winter. Another distinctive feature of Valencia is the dried out riverbed of the River Turia, which was redirected after a flood in 1957. The residents of Valencia use the riverbed for sports and other leisure activities. In the evening you can round off the day with a “Paella Valenciana”, which is made up of saffron rice, vegetables, chicken and snails. Yes, Paella is originally from Valencia. There are many bars along the beach. We wish you lots of fun in the sunny Valencia.
