San Juan, established in 1521, is the capital of Puerto Rico. This makes San Juan the oldest capital city in the USA. San Juan has three great forts, lots of antique buildings, museums, a shopping and business center. The “Plaza de San Jose” is a popular meeting point where something is always happening. If you visit the „Parque de las Palomas“ you will experience the lovely scenery. Our school in San Juan lies in the Hato Rey community, in a historic building with eight air-conditioned classrooms and an internet room. We recommend that you arrive on the Sunday before your course begins and leave the Saturday after your course ends. Puerto Rico belongs to the USA so most of its inhabitants speak English and Spanish. Puerto Rico has a beutriful landscape with many miles of white beaches, mountains, deserts, tropical rainforests and a fascinating mixture of Colonial history and the culture of the Taino Indians, who originally lived here. Puerto Rico has a warm climate with lots of sunshine and a yearly average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. A fresh wind is always blowing from the See so it never gets too hot and sticky Puerto Rico is one of the most populated islands in the world. Puerto Rico was a Spanish colony in the early 18th century, but was conquered by the Americans in 1898. In the 1960’s thousands of Cuban fled Fidel Castro and settled on Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico has always been a popular destination for immigrants so that over the time a one of a kind culture has been established. The architecture shows a mixture of colonial Spanish and modern American construction. Moreover, there is lots to experience in Puerto Rico.
