Costa Rica is a tropical paradise in southern Central America. The people of Costa Rica speak very slowly and clearly, which makes this a great place to learn Spanish. Nicaragua is to the north, and Panama is to the southeast. Geologically is Costa Rica a very young country. Costa Rica is often called the biological corridor, which means it is a biological land bridge where the northern and southern parts of the continents connect. Costa Rica is a biological wonder- it is home to more than 12,000 types of plants and 1200 orchids.

In 1502 Christopher Columbus discovered the shores of what is today Costa Rica. The settlement of Costa Rica started in 1563 with the founding of its first capital, Cartago. Today 27% of Costa Rica is environmentally protected. This country does not only offer over 1200 kilometres of beaches perfect for swimming, diving and relaxing but also fascinating waterfalls, rain forests, mountain rivers and paths. Costa Rica has a wonderful landscape for long walks, bike riding or rafting. Our school is located in Coronado, a growing country city with a population of 60,000. Here you will find modern supermarkets, a Sunday farmers market, doctors, banks, restaurants and cafes. A highlight of Coronado is its large Gothic church.
