Hamburg- The Northern Venice

Hamburg is considered to be one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Take a walk along the Alster riverbank, or sunbath at the Elbe beach or visit the parks and green areas. The Hagenbeck Zoo is also a huge, beautiful park area. Hamburg is also a lively international harbor that ideally located between two seas. You can quickly reach the “Lüneburger Heide”, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and many other fascinating attractions from Hamburg. Hamburg is often called the Northern Venice because of its 2485 bridges (this is five times as many as in Venice). Hamburg also has plenty of cultural attractions to offer. Yu can choose between musicals like “The Lion King” or “Mamma Mia”, three public theatres, 30 private theaters and more than 40 private stages. Or maybe you would prefer cabaret, ballet, opera, or the orchestra. Hamburg also has a large jazz scene and many various clubs, galleries and museums. The cities well-planned public transportation system makes it easy to reach all points around the city. You shouldn’t pass up a chance to take a tour of the historical city, spend an evening in “St. Pauli” or a visit to the “Dom” (Germany’s largest fair). The Hamburg Fish Market is also a definite must-see attraction.

A visit to the historical ship exhibition is a must for those who would like to learn a bit more about the founding of Hamburg. Another positive aspect of Hamburg is that it is a hub for many low-budget airlines like HLX, Germanwings and AirBerlin. This makes it cheap and easy to reach many locations in Germany and throughout Europe. Hamburg is a great city to learn German because it lies in Northern Germany where “High German” is spoken.
