PET - Preliminary English Test
The begginners' certificate of the Cambridge courses. The exam fees will be charged seperately.
The Preliminary English Test PET is the "smallest" Cambridge University's certificate. It was conceived for those who wanted to certificate their English knowledge. If standard English is spoken, you should be able to understand daily situations that could take place at work, at school, in your free time or during a journey. You should also be able to talk about areas of the daily life and your interests, experiences, hopes, dreams, aims and plans. The Preliminary English Test corresponds to the level B1.
The Preliminary English Test PET is divided into 3 parts: reading comprehension and writing (part 1 - 90 min.), listening comprehension (part 2 - 30 min.) and an oral examination (part 3 - 10 min.). In the first part you have to understand texts from magazines, newspapers and booklets, while in the part "writing" you would have cloze tests. During the listening comprehension you will have to demonstrate that you understand the content and the sense of the oral presentation. The oral examination has to be done with another candidate. You will have to talk about what you like and what you dislike, and be able to introduce yourself. The PET exam dates are centrally set, but you can take the exam at the testcenter you like. We have several schools which offer preparatory courses for the PET.
