FCE - First Certificate of English

Preparatory course for the First Certificate of English. The exam fees will be charged seperately.

The First Certificate of English (FCE) can be used to certificate the knowledge of English at some universities, at work and at some other institutions. If you want to take this exam, you should be able to understand the main content of complicated texts and abstract themes and have a conversation abput a special issue. You should also be able to have a fluid conversation with a native speaker and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of several themes. You can take this exam on certain centrally fixed days at the testcenters all around the world. Therefore the duration of your preparatory course should be orienteted to those days. The FCE corresponds to the level B2.

The FCE First Certificate of English is the previous level to the Preliminary English Test and is devided into 5 parts: reading comprehension (75 minutes), writing (90 minutes), structures and vocabulary (75 minutes), listening comprehension (40 minutes) and speaking (14 minutes). The candidate has to able to understand and talk about the general content as well as the details of specialized texts from books, magazines, newspapers, ect. You will also have to write two texts about diverse themes, while in the part structures and vocabulary not only your vocabulary will be examined, but also your grammar. The last two parts are: a listening comprehension and speaking. Some typical exercices that could be used for these parts are: cloze tests, rephrases, the correction of mistakes, interviews, speeches, debates and an exercices to be done with another candidate. This oral part only takes 14 minutes. We recommend you to take a preparatory course that is offered allthroughout the world. But please do not forget the deadline of the exam when choosing the duration of your course!
