Chicago, the windy city-and a lifestyle for itself

Language school
It is not widely known that the nickname “windy city” comes from a historic rivalry between New York and Chicago and not from the windy weather. Today, Chicago isn’t dirty and loud - it is beautiful, clean and unbelievably versatile. Anyone who has visited Chicago will never forget their visit and will always be fascinated by Chicago. While Manhattan, New York is very intimidating because of its size and hecticness, Chicago presents itself to its visitors with an open soul. A wide strip of beaches and parks is found along Lake Michigan from Jackson Park to the Northern suburbs. This combination of city and nature offers a leisure area that is hard to find anywhere else in the USA. On sunny days you can find young and old on the lake, playing chess, driving Jet-Skis or motorboats, reading, relaxing in the sun or on a bike ride along the lake. However, the lake isn’t everything: When you move towards the Loop you are getting closer to the heart of Chicago. Blues rules the life here. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the subway or on the corner in front of a skyscraper street musicians are everywhere. They have more to offer than street musicians in other cities. Blues is playing in the background at Starbucks, in bars and even at 4-Star hotels.

Chicago’s nightlife has something for every taste, even for people who don’t like blues. The clubs on the Rush and Division Street are magnificent. After the world fair in 1893 architect and city planner Burnham started to apply a system of building to Chicago, which is responsible for the balanced, free, and beautiful architecture. Skyscrapers, like the Hancock Tower, and the 2-story residential houses are mixed together, which makes the atmosphere very nice. “The Magnificent Mile” (which was planned by Burnham) is a must and is a symbol of Chicago. Once you have been in Chicago for a while you won’t want to leave. If you are planning a trip to Chicago- here is a tip: Don’t pay to go up in the Sears Tower. Visit the Signature Lounge and enjoy a cocktail with a great view of Chicago. On the Michigan Avenue, only a few miles from the Loop and Lake Michigan, is our language school. Our language school has classrooms, a break room, a kitchen, a staff room and a reception area with friendly staff. Further details to courses and costs can be found under the link “About our Language School”. We would love to welcome you to Chicago.
