Calgary - the city of the Olympic Winter Games 1988 – lies in the shadows of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Students from all around the world love this dynamic city. Calgary, with its friendly and worldly inhabitants, its many places of interest and leisure offerings, has definitely a lot to offer. Students can enjoy many different winter sports and national parks in the area. Every year in July thousands of visitors come to witness the “Stampede Fever”, a rodeo and western show. However, not only the Canadian festivals will thrill you. You can also feel the “olympic feeling” at the Canadian Airlines Saddle Dome, the Olympic Museum and the Calgary Olympic Park.

For a change from classes you can visit the famous Calgary Zoo, which is the second largest zoo in Canada. You can also enjoy a great meal at the 190-meter high Calgary Tower. Other great sightseeing spots include: the First Nations Art Collection at the Glenbow Museum, the Calgary Science Centre, the Theatre, and the Spruce Meadows riding stable. Calgary does not only offer lots of leisure and cultural activities but is also a great starting point for interesting excursions. A trip to the Tyrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller with its world famous dinosaur exhibition is a must. If you travel south from Drumheller you can visit the fascinating Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Sports and outdoor fans will love the National Parks all year round.
